The Alpine Summer Term is an outdoor leadership adventure, cultural immersion and summer camp in one place. You will find in it the structure, friendships, and the interest in you that are characteristic of the best summer camps. You will also find the mental and physical challenge, careful instruction, and backcountry experience of a dedicated outdoor program. And it all takes place in a unique Swiss setting with close and longstanding ties to the local, rural Swiss farming community. You will live with roommates, eat good food, share a welcoming home at Chalet Hohliebi, do plenty of hiking, biking, and rock climbing, and enjoy the exceptionally beautiful location where we are based. You will be stepping out of the kind of world with which you are familiar, and into a simpler, "uncluttered" environment.
Here you will have a chance to realize your strengths and passions and to measure yourself against what you would like to be. We seek to help you grow in character through developing your skills and confidence for leadership. While challenged to a high degree, you will develop close friendships, gain a better idea of who you are and better appreciate what you can achieve.
You can expect to leave The Summer Term having explored the Alps with your peers, developed an understanding of a foreign culture, and enjoyed a simple lifestyle. All of this will not come to pass without your commitment to make the most of a special opportunity. We promise that if you bring your best to Lenk, you will enjoy an extraordinary experience.
